About this Experience

After an unforgettable morning trekking with mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park, spend your afternoon immersed in the local community that has helped protect them. At a nearby community center, meet the artists - young dreamers from Kigali's outskirts, elders who once lived in the forest, and locals who have turned conservation into craft. Trained by a grassroots organization, they will guide you in painting your own gorilla portrait, inspired by the encounter you just lived. You will start with a home-cooked lunch and a cold banana beer, sitting under the sun as stories unfold. Then, brush in hand, you will learn traditional techniques and create something personal - raw, imperfect, yours. This is not a souvenir shop stop. This is connection. Creation. A slow afternoon with people whose lives are tied to the forest, its creatures, and now, your memory of them. Take your painting home. And if one canvas is not enough, explore more works from the artists whose lives you just stepped into. A soulful close to a once-in-a-lifetime morning.
