About this space

End your gorilla trekking journey with peace, purpose, and a view. Accessible only by boat, this off-grid eco-lodge sits quietly on an island in Lake Bunyonyi. Solar-powered and community-run, your stay directly supports local women groups and conservation initiatives - so you can relax with impact. Choose from a range of unique stays: open-air geodomes under the stars, lakeview cottages with private decks, or traditional-style hideaways. All rooms offer a deep connection to nature - without compromising on comfort. Swim from the dock. Paddle out at sunrise. Watch the hills turn gold at dusk. Meals are fresh, local, and rooted in the region culture. This is not just where the trip ends. It is where it settles in. Impact metrics: - 70% of proceeds go into local employment, 20% are contributed to the Itambira Sustainable Project - a project promoting sustainable eco-tourism, environmental conservation, and community-development at Lake Bunyonyi - Guests also get the chance to learn about sustainable tourism practices and ethical interactions with local culture and nature - and how aid can empower rather than harm the communities it's contributed to
