About this Experience

Hidden among Kapchorwa's cliffs are caves that once offered shelter and played a vital role in Sebei history: marriage rituals, warrior training and prophetic ceremonies. The passionate Sebei Cultural Storytellers — our Kapchorwa youth group on a mission to revive and celebrate Sebei ancient traditions — takes you into the most vibrant and meaningful aspects of their treasured culture. This activity takes place in the evening, when — if the weather allows — the golden rays of the setting sun add a magical touch to the experience. Just a 15 minutes walk from the gate of our Guesthouse. Impact metrics: - Employs 6-8 cultural performers (youth and elders) - 70% of revenue goes to performers; 20% goes to the community fund (supporting training and exposure of cultural performers) - The product helps build and develop cultural interpretation, youth performance confidence, and archiving oral history - The product also positively benefits the community by fostering intercultural dialogue, and by celebrating and preserving positive community values and practices
